Second Grade News
May 5, 2008
Dear Parents and Students,
The eggs are incubating along in second grade. If all goes well, we should have chicks, and duck and geese. That will be exciting! Eggs should start cracking about May 14 and go into the next week.
Flashcards for x 3 were sent home last week. Any extra practice at home would be helpful.

Lessons: These are the lessons we will be studying each day. Please use them at home for your family devotions or to read with your child. Remember to return the Christlight folder to school each day.
Monday & Tuesday : Lesson 10A (A book, page 19) God answers Hezekiah's Prayers
Thursday & Friday: Lesson 10B (B book, page 19) God Heals Hezekiah
Memory Work
For Tuesday: Psalm 50:15
Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.
For Thursday: The Second Commandment
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
What does this mean?
We should fear and love God that we do not use his name to curse, swear, lie, or deceive, or use witchcraft, but call upon God's name in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks.
For Friday: Hymn 183 verse 1
HolySpirit, Light divine,
Shine upon this heart of mine;
Chase the gloom of night away;
Turn the darkness into day.
*Spelling: Lesson 33 Words with double consonants in the middle
Tested List: better hammer bottom mitten scatter kitten rabbit button hello yellow sudden letter
Challenge List: matter manner lettuce pattern blossom rubber
Word Wall Words: because their (It is their kitten) there (Put the book there) they're (They're late) yes
Note: The tested list is the grade that I use for spelling. The challenge list is just that - a challenge for the kids. The Word Wall list are the frequently used words we add to our word wall each week.
The children are tested on all the words, but if spelling is a challenge for your child, concentrate on the tested list only.
